Helping Spirit Lodge Society is dedicated to assisting in the alleviation of family violence in Aboriginal communities by providing safe, protective shelter to Aboriginal women and children, holistic educational programs, support and advocacy. We believe that it is the Aboriginal people who must set the agenda in providing solutions to problems that adversely affect their traditionally proud cultural inheritance.
Our primary task is to provide sanctuary in an alcohol and drug free environment and then engage participants in activities that are culturally relevant to them, to facilitate the healing process. The program provides a framework for the development of practical life skills in health management, home management, relationships, vocational training, goal setting and parenting skills.

Street Art Works provides alternative services that specifically utilize creative media for youth on the margins. Using a continuum of artistic disciplines, youth are able to express their individual creativity while being mentored in arts-related technique. Youth may also participate in collective artistic job-action projects designed to enhance entrepreneurial passion.
Our unique underlying philosophy is to facilitate the therapeutic components available within the creative process, while assisting youth on the margins to gain vocational skills and develop industry exposure to their creative work. Job-action projects via the use of creative media are designed to meet the special needs of marginalized youth, utilizing mentors from the field.
